Mad Max: Fury Road - Review

Ok, so granted, Mad Max isn't really a horror movie.  But, post-apocalyptic goodness it is.

This movie is held together by awesome chase scenes in a desert, lots of explosions, Charlize Theron and her scantily clad posse, a guy in red underwear playing a guitar throughout the movie, and oh, very minimally this guy named Max.  I thought the movie was named after the main character, but it really shouldn't have been.  Honestly, if you had called it Desert Car Crashes and Explosions with Hot Chicks I would have gone and scene it, and liked it about the same.

Here's what I'm glad for:  This was not a remake.  This was an additional story in the Mad Max universe.  Thank God.  If it had been a remake of any of the classics I grew up with, I would have hated it.  But, this movie was a whole lot of fun because it was exactly what I expected.  It was a campy ride that paid tribute to it's 70's and 80's sci-fi predecessors.  It's a very, very pretty movie with car crashes, chase scenes, and lots of explosions.  It's campy and it's fun.  It is not a sophisticated movie, but, it's fun.  Go in with those expectations and you'll enjoy it as much as I did.

Also, it made me want to play role-playing games like Gamma World and Car Wars.
