Professor and Ex-Girlfriend Afflicted

posted Aug 19, 2015, 4:29 PM by James Pearson   [ updated Aug 19, 2015, 4:38 PM ]

Doctoral student and Professor of English Literature, and his ex-girlfriend, were both suddenly afflicted by a strange occurrence.  Both experienced severe eye irritation and burning, "as if sprayed in the face with mace" Professor Cutter reported later.  Katy Robins was hospitalized and Professor Cutter's attack came on suddenly during class.  Just as suddenly they irritation disappeared a day later.  Local medical authorities, and school administration, are unable to offer any cause but state that the incidents seem to be isolated and students and residents should not worry about a contagion.

In unrelated news campus administration reports suspending a student that may have made threats against Professor Cutter.  Some reports claim the student practiced black magic and voodoo and maintained a "creepy alter thing in her closet."

Students Attempt to Raise the Dead at Roost

posted Jun 26, 2015, 3:48 PM by James Pearson   [ updated Jun 27, 2015, 8:04 AM ]

Work on repairing the Roost, after the tragic fire during this year's Freshman Sweat Lodge, continues.  However, work is slow as reports of ghostly apparitions and strange happenings come in from the work crews.  In fact, several crew members have refused to return to work.

In what appears to be have been some harmless fun, a handful of students were cited with trespassing last night.  ETU security guards caught the students as they attempted to flee the Roost.  Guards reported that the students had set up "some kind of seance or ritual" in the middle of the basketball court.

Apart from a broken trophy case, no other vandalism or theft is apparent at this time.  While cited, the students have not received any other disciplinary action.

Reported Incident - Bugs

posted Jun 21, 2015, 10:11 AM by James Pearson   [ updated Jun 27, 2015, 8:05 AM ]

Campus security has had a handful of odd reports lately, all centering around unusual insect activity.  In the latest incident, several students reported witnessing another group of students being attacked by two swarms of bugs, of both the creepy crawly kind and the flying kind.  The incident occurred along the path on the residential side of campus last night.

Several students were seen fighting off the swarms as best they could.   A few witnesses say that the incident looked relatively bleak and then, suddenly, the insects dissipated mysteriously.  Just prior to end of the attack the following was heard, shouted by one of the attacking students:  "Everybody on this bus cuz' we're headed to victory!".

One student, whose name has been withheld, was treated for a multitude of insect bites and minor stings.  However, no serious injuries have been reported.

Dr. Bethany Moore, from our Sciences department, stated that "the insect behavior describe is unusual and highly unlikely.  Especially when you analyze the descriptions people have given of these so-called 'swarms'.  You see, the insects described simply would not behave harmoniously in such a manner.  I suspect, instead, that the reports were exaggerated, especially on a Friday night."

Regardless, the science department has agreed to continue looking into the situation.

In unrelated news, a student recently received disciplinary action for violating the school's "stalker" policies.  Students are reminded that they should always travel in pairs or groups, especially at night, and to stick to well-lit locations on campus.  If you feel you are in danger, remember to dial *611 for campus security or look for one of the lighted blue security call posts.

First Day - Sweat Lodge

posted Jun 13, 2015, 2:21 PM by James Pearson   [ updated Jun 27, 2015, 8:08 AM ]

Well, the first day of ETU for incoming Freshmen sure was an exciting one!  First there were dorm and roommate assignments.  For many this is not only the first time away from home, but also the first time having a roommate.  I hope everyone is pleased with their new friends.

After some time to get settled and acquainted with each other, the Freshmen headed over to the Raven's Roost for a time-honored tradition we like to call Sweat Lodge.  Sweat Lodge is a social gathering and also a time for Seniors to impart some wisdom to their underclassmen.

This year's Sweat Lodge, however, took an unfortunate turn for the worse.  Not only was our beloved Roost vandalized with graffiti, but there was an attempted arson.  Several students were questioned under suspicion of starting the fire, however, no charges have been made at this time.

Additionally, one of our security guards, Tyson August, has gone missing.  It is unclear at this time whether or not he was involved in the fire.

Among all this, students reported other odd things such as a ghost siting and possibly even an attack by some other creature!

About the Game

ETU uses the Savage Worlds Game system with, as usual, some modifications to add flavor to the world.  Character Creation adds a couple of components such as Extracurricular Activities, Exams, and needing to declare a Major (and a Minor if you want).

All characters start the game as Freshman (Novice).  No magical or special abilities are allowed to Freshmen.
